Flights
of Fantasy
Available
in late March 2009, my short novel is half of a "Double Dog" from Yard
Dog Press, paired with the short novel "House of Doors" by Julia S.
Mandala. My novel, "Jaguar Moon" is a fantasy adventure which
combines elements of Maya mythology with Voodoo. A woman is captured by
a werejaguar and her life partner, a ghost hunter, goes on the chase
after teaming up with a monster hunter who has been tracking the
werejaguar. Of course, there's an even greater evil attempting to rise
up.
"Always
Read the Fine Print" in Bash Down the Door & Slice Open the
Badguy…
is an anthology of humorous sword & sorcery tales. My
tale is
set in a pseudo Roman world. The main character, a wizard, is
attempting to animate a stuffed toy for his niece's birthday
party. Instead of giving the toy life, he gives it his
own.
Now he and his gladiator brother must go in search of a magical wand
that can reverse the effects. Buy it from Fantasist
Enterprises
"Dragon Wave and Golden Universe" in Dragons Composed. As
the anthology title suggests, this book contains dragons in all lights.
My story deals with the love between two dragons, one a Japanese Sea
Dragon and the other, a Chinese Imperial Dragon which sails the sky
with the sun. The tale is told in a style reminiscent of Japanese folk
tales and is set during the time of the samurai.
"Bubba
Seuss" in Flush Fiction, vol. 1. This anthology contains
humorous
flash fiction pieces, hence the subtitle: Stories you can
read in
one sitting. My tale, as the title might suggest, is a Dr.
Seuss
styled story-poem, written with the greatest admiration for the man who
first interested me not only in reading, but in fantasy as
well.
The poem is styled after his longer works for older readers. See all of Yard Dog Press's titles.
"Making
the Perfect Man" in Loving the Undead, an anthology of romance, sort
of. That's how it's phrased on the cover. This
anthology
contains sad stories, funny stories, and horrific stories.
Mine
is dark and a touch sad, a sort of star-crossed lovers tale about two
people who had known each other as children. She
grew up to
be a Haitian Vodou priestess and he began involved with drug lords. See what else From the Asylum Books has to offer.
A
Man, A Plan, (yet lacking) A Canal…PANAMA. My novella
chapbook is
a historical fantasy retelling of Captain Henry Morgan's raid on Panama
City. To bring in the fantasy element, I've explained his
phenomenally bad luck on Maya gods. Because Morgan possesses
an
emerald ring, given to him by Panama's president, a ring stolen from
the fabled emerald temple, Morgan can see the gods acting against him,
crashing his ships with wind and storm. Ultimately, he must
face
them in Xilbalba. Check out Yard Dog Press
"A
Helluva Way to Run a War" in The 4 Redheads of the Apocalypse, a
chapbook collection of short stories about the new horsemen . . . or
rather, horsewomen. The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse have
died in
an ice-shack fishing accident and now it's up to the wives to take
over. Unfortunately, they none married women suited to the
task,
having instead married high society socialites. Each story is
an
attempt at one of the wives of making a go at her new job.
Why? Because Satan has plans to retire. As such,
the best
horsewoman gets the promotion. As the title indicates, I
write
War. Now that Ares is gone, War has a new name . .
. Bunny.
Buy it and many other books from Yard Dog Press
The
4 Redheads in: Apocalypse Now! This novel sequel to the 4
Redheads chapbook will be available from Yard Dog press in
2009. The Redheads are at it again, trying to get
rid of
their jobs. This time, they think they have the perfect plan
. .
. bring about the apocalypse early. Look for this novel in early 2009 from Yard Dog Press.
"The
Wolf Maiden" in Sword & Sorceress 23, the well-known series
started by Marion Zimmer Bradley that is continued through her
estate.
My tale is based in Nordic mythology. A young woman becomes
friends
with wolves and helps to save the village from attacking sea ogres. It's published byNorilana Books. But you can find it on Amazon.
"As
Different as Night and Day" in Magic & Mechanica is an
anthology
where fantasy meets technology in its worlds. In my story,
magic
has always held sway over daylight, the source coming from the
sun. Only at night can technology operates as the sun-powered
devices disrupt the electro-magnetic lines powering technology with
disastrous results. The balance was maintained
until a
university student discovered a means of capturing moonlight for magic.
Look for this anthology from Ricasso Press
"The Silver Branch" in The Phantom Queen Awakes, an anthology of
stories set in ancient Ireland, dealing with the Tri-Part goddess known
as The Morrigan, aka the Phantom Queen. My story deals with a clan
leader who makes a deal with the Morrigan to rid his people of their
enemies. Expect this anthology in October 2009 from Morrigan Books, out of England.
"The Journey of White Sorrow" in Paper Blossoms, Sharpened Steel, an
anthology that's scheduled to come out from Fantasist Enterprises late
2009 or even 2010. The anthology is a collection of original
Oriental
fantasy tales. Mine draws from Japanese and Chinese mythology
as well
as folklore as a court poetess in the Heian era must save the island.
Expect this anthology in late 2009 or early 2010 from Fantasist Enterprises.
